How to add a digital signature to invoices and proposals

Request a legally binding e-signature from clients on invoices or estimates.

Overview

The digital signature feature allows clients to sign invoices and proposals directly through the client portal. This is particularly useful for proposals, project agreements, and large-value invoices where you want documented client approval.

Enabling signatures on an invoice

When creating or editing an invoice:

  1. 1Scroll to the bottom of the invoice editor.
  2. 2Toggle on "Require Client Signature".
  3. 3Add an optional signature instruction (e.g., "By signing, you approve the project scope and payment terms.").
  4. 4Send the invoice. The client will see a signature pad in the portal before they can pay.

Pro Tip

Signed invoices are stored as a permanent record. Go to any invoice and click "View Signature" to see the signed PDF with timestamp and IP address.
